Welcome to our "Basic Course in Hindi Reading and Writing"! In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of reading and writing in Hindi, with a special emphasis on correct pronunciation.

Hindi is written in the Devanagari script, which is a syllabary. Unlike the Latin script, where all letters are written the same way, the Devanagari script changes the way letters are written. Vowels are represented with their own symbols only at the beginning of words or after another vowel. When vowels follow a consonant, the consonant symbol is modified with an additional mark. The basic symbols for consonants inherently include a short 'a'.
