This festival is celebrated by women folk region of Telangana as well as parts of Andhra Pradesh during Dussehra Navarathri (nine days). During the entire preceding nine days, women make ‘boddemma’ (a deity of Gowri – mother Durga – made with earthly mud) along with Batukamma (decorated wildflowers). Whole village women and children will gatherer banks of village water bodies by worshipping goddess Gowri with traditional folk songs and dances by seeking the prosperity of family and a good agriculture year. Entire nine days every day Bathukamma worshipped with a different name that has an immense value that relates to humans and nature. At the end of every day, Bathukamma will immerse it in the pond. These traditionally used wildflowers in Batukamma have a great quality of purifying water bodies and making the environment much better.
