ESSEN MAKES CHRISTMAS DREAMS COME TRUE

The scent of roasted almonds, potato pancakes and mulled wine fills the crisp air. The squares and shopping streets of Essen's city centre are aglow with lights. Welcome to the International Christmas Market Essen! With around 170 stalls, it is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany and has already won several awards for its diversity and beauty. Scattered throughout the city centre, the huts stand under a sea of twinkling lights - an atmosphere that makes a visit festive and dreamlike.

A highlight this year is the "X-Mas Lounge" on Kennedyplatz. On around 300 square metres and over two floors, it combines a Christmas market café and sales stalls. From the outdoor terrace, you can enjoy coffee and cake and let your gaze wander over the festively decorated square under the twinkling net of lights.

If you would like to give your loved ones an individually decorated gingerbread heart, you can come to the Radio Essen stand on Kettwiger Straße on the 26th of November. For a small donation to "Aktion Lichtblicke", the gingerbread heart will be decorated there with your desired inscription.
