Regular Medical Visa for India
29 Nov 2021
If you are travelling to India for a medical treatment you will have to apply for the Medical Visa for India. In this article we will explain how to get the Medical Visa as a Regular Visa. Nevertheless, we would recommend applying for the medical e-Visa because the process is much easier.
Before applying you should be aware which Indian Mission is responsible for your application. Additionally, you should have a look at the official websites of Berlin and München and Frankfurt and Hamburg.
The requirements for the Medical Visa are the duly filled online form, a valid passport and at least two biometric passport photos. In addition to that you need a recommendation letter from your physician or the hospital you were treated at in Germany as well as an agreement of the Indian physician or hospital which will provide the treatment. In this the physician has to state the expected duration of your stay due to the treatment. You will also need to show proof of the registration of the Indian physician or the hospital.
You can obtain a Medical Visa with a validity of up to 1 year. After arriving in India you are obliged to register at the local offices (FRRO/ FRO) within the first 14 days.
If you are accompanied by relatives or friends they have to apply separately for a e-Medical Attendant Visa. For every Medical Visa only two Attendant Visas are issued.
