You are only eligible for the Transit Visa for India, if you are travelling via India to another country. The Transit Visa is to be applied for as a Regular Visa in the responsible Indian Mission. If you are not sure which Indian Mission in Germany is responsible for your Visa application please refer to our article with a general overview on how to apply for a visa for India. After the Transit Visa for India is issued it is valid for 15 days and allows you a stay in India for a maximum of 3 days (72 hours)

For the application you need the duly filled online form, your passport, a biometric pass photo as well as a flight ticket which proves that you will leave India within 3 days. For applicants of Indian origin applying for the Transit Visa in Frankfurt a Surrender Certificate is necessary, in which you show that you have given up your Indian passport.

Please refer to the official websites for Berlin and München and for Frankfurt and Hamburg for specific regulations regarding the Transit Visa for India.

We hope you found this article helpful. Additionally, we’d really appreciate it if you shared your experiences with the Transit Visa with us so we can all learn from each other.
